The sketch of this
carpet has been
begun to do from
1996. The next
process was to copy
the same sketch to
the carpet during 7
years. In this
carpet, there are
totally more than
700 elements and
some other ornaments
of eastern world,
and the elements of
ancient carpets that
were woven in
Azerbaijan.
This carpet was
begun to be woven at
the beginning of
2004 and completed
during 18 months.
The density of
carpet is 40 (1600
loops in 10.76
square feet). It was
made of fresh wool
and was woven with
the qualitative
threads of Iranian
and Italian
production. The
majority works of
painting on the
carpets were done
with the
naturalistic dyes,
and more than 200
colors were used
together in the dye
works. The size of
carpet; width-1, 28
meters and length is
1, 75 meters. The
density of pile is 4
millimeters. |

The artistic and mystic features
of the Carpet:
 At
the beginning of the carpet (in
the bottom part) camelcade that
has 7 camels and the head of the
camelcade (Sarvan) were depicted
from left to right. The
depiction and colors of camels
does duplicate one another.
These seven camels are
represented as the days of the
week and path of life. Above the
camelcade, the dome of the
mosque and the minarets
horizontally were depicted.
Lone Koran verse is shown in the
middle and it is the symbol of
the mosque door. In the center
of the dome inside the 8 pointed
star ALLAH’s name was woven with
different graphics, in the same
time some of the Koran verses
and the name of Islamic prophet,
Muhammad (s) were written on
this carpet. The usage of mixed
color tinges and the appearance
made this carpet luminous. That
is why we named this carpet
"NUR"
("LIGHT").
The repetition of ALLAH’s name 7
times on the dome signals that
the sky consists of 7 layers.
The word of
"ALLAH
is great"
was woven at the top of the
carpet. The all beauties and
charms of paradise, and some
other illustrating stories were
represented by language of
patterns.
Currently, it is in the process
of presenting to
"Book
of Genesis Records".
1st
reason: the first carpet
to use over 200 colors in the
history of global carpet making.
2nd
reason: the first carpet
to use over 700 ornaments and
general elements of the Eastern
World’s Islamic motifs.
Upon initiative of the
Minsitry of Culture and Tourism,
a trade film entitled
"Letter
to the Future"
about carept making was filmed
by director Mehriban
Alakbarzada
for a
UNESCO presentation.
